Paris Saint-Germain boasts a rising star in Xavi Simons, widely regarded as one of football’s most promising young talents. However, as the summer transfer window looms, the 21-year-old’s future remains uncertain.
According to a recent report by RMC Sport, Simons won’t be making a comeback to PSG this summer. The reason? Well, apparently, he’s just not feeling the drive to stay in the French capital anymore.
This news was good news to clubs like FC Barcelona, which are keen on reuniting with their former youth player. Nonetheless, while Simons has a say in where he’ll play next season, PSG won’t be allowing him to leave since they highly rate the youngster.
In an interview with Culture PSG, journalist Abdellah Boulma provided insight into the Simons file and noted that the Parisians’ leaders are confident that they’ll keep the player regardless of Barcelona or any other club’s interest.
“There are certainties, and there are things we don’t know because it’s a very unclear situation,” Boulma told the French media outlet. “Transparency has been minimal. What we do know is that he spent a season on loan at Leipzig. That’s where we stand today. Nasser loves this player, Luis Enrique loves this player, everyone in Paris appreciates this player, who is a PSG kid, but Xavi Simons already has a say…
“So, essentially, it’s a three-way billiards game. And there’s no way Paris Saint-Germain will sell the player before 2025. Unless someone puts €100 million on the table or at least the player’s current value, which must be around €80 million. Again, the certainties we have are that the player has a say, and we’re told the club is confident in this matter. The current trend is that he’ll go out on loan for another year, to Leipzig or elsewhere.”
Simons has really stood out at RB Leipzig, leaving a strong impression with 43 appearances across all competitions. His remarkable tally of 10 goals and 15 assists has definitely caught people’s attention.
