On Wednesday, Paris Saint-Germain will host FC Barcelona at the Parc des Princes for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash. However, PSG supporters are already extending a warm welcome to the Spanish club.
Following the 1-1 draw against Clermont Foot on Saturday, PSG supporters were heard chanting “P*ta Barça, P*ta Barça.” The fans are expected to continue providing the energy the team needs for a positive result in the upcoming first leg.
After these chants circulated on social media, a member of the media asked PSG manager Luis Enrique if he hopes to avoid hearing the same thing during Wednesday’s Champions League match.
“I would like to see a great spectacle, a grand show between two great teams, with a spirit of sportsmanship prevailing,” Enrique told reporters after the win (h/t Culture PSG). “In sports, it’s like in life: we often win but we also lose a lot. I always respect all opponents, referees, and opposing players, as well as the families of opposing players because when mine is sad, the rival’s is happy. And I hope that Paris Saint Germain will win.”

The fans will bring the energy necessary for the team to clinch a positive outcome in the first leg. Perhaps Barcelona supporters will add their own chants to the mix ahead of the second leg. Nonetheless, the 180 minutes will be exciting to watch to see who advances.
