PSG’s €60M Defender’s Future in Limbo as Chelsea and Manchester United Lurk

Paris Saint-Germain allowed several veteran players to leave last summer, and the exodus might continue in a few months. The capital club is getting younger, and one player might not be part of the youth movement: Marquinhos.

The 29-year-old currently serves as PSG’s captain, but that doesn’t mean he’s not immune to an exit. Marquinhos could become available for transfer with recent additions in the center-back position and the potential focus on a younger squad.

L’Équipe reports that Marquinhos could be available this summer. The veteran defender has struggled with injuries this season. However, Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez have impressed in his absence. Furthermore, the capital club is keen to bring in a new center-back in the summer, with LOSC Lille’s Leny Yoro linked, and Marquinhos could make way.

The report also reveals that despite turning 30 this year, Marquinhos will be on the short list of players for top European clubs, like Chelsea and Manchester United, that are looking to bolster their defense.

Marquinhos is under contract until 2028, and Transfermarkt puts the center-back’s transfer value at €60 million.
