PSG’s Luis Enrique Expresses Appreciation for Barcelona’s Emerging Young Talent

Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique spoke to the media on Saturday ahead of the matchup against Olympique de Marseille. During his press conference, the Spanish tactician was asked a question about FC Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.

The teenager was one of the stars in Spain’s 3-3 draw against Brazil in the FIFA international break. Enrique, who coached the Spanish national team and follows Barcelona, was asked about his thoughts on Yamal and the teenager’s performance.

“Of course, I saw it,” Enrique said to begin his remarks (h/t Paris Fans). “And I won’t talk about Yamal because he’s not a player at Paris Saint-Germain. All that speculation… I liked that the Madrid crowd applauded a player who plays for Barcelona, who is also a 16-year-old player. And to see him leave the stadium, applauded by the eternal rival, is something that I really appreciate.”

Enrique will need to devise a tactical plan to contain the budding superstar for Barcelona when the Catalan side comes to the Parc des Princes on April 10 for the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal tie.

Despite being 16, Yamal is one of the key components of Barcelona’s attack. As a result, the capital club will need to be aware of the teenager and keep him quiet if they want to head into the second leg with an advantage.
