In a week in which Luis Enrique guided Paris Saint-Germain to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals, club president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi spoke about the direction of their project.
Al-Khelaïfi highlighted Enrique and sporting advisor Luis Campos’s work this season. Campos turned the squad into a young one with much potential due to the various players he has recruited over the last two transfer windows.
“We’re building a new team, so it’s not easy,” Al-Khelaïfi told RMC Sport (h/t Paris Fans). “Players aren’t ready just because we put them together. I’m also proud of our coach (Luis Enrique), who’s doing a fantastic job.
“He’s doing an incredible job building all of this. It’s not just about results; it’s also about how we play, the strategy, the vision. I’m also very proud of the sporting director (Luis Campos), who’s also doing a fantastic job. All the players too. We’re really happy.”
Beyond the satisfying sports performances, Enrique brings real added value to this Parisian team. After the immense difficulties of last season, it was essential to regain a solid team capable of giving 100 percent and proudly representing the capital club.
Today, in addition to the president, the supporters are also pleased with what is being built at PSG. There’s no reason to change anything at this time, especially since the capital club is back in the Champions League quarterfinals a few months after starting the project.
It will be interesting to see if the Parisians can follow Liverpool’s or Manchester City’s example of having a manager who is one of the club’s faces.
