Luis Enrique and Kylian Mbappé are at the center of another substitution controversy. The Spanish manager pulled the 25-year-old during halftime of Paris Saint-Germain’s scoreless draw against AS Monaco.
Nonetheless, the issue stems from the player going to the stands with his mother rather than remaining on the bench with his teammates. On Saturday, there’s more fallout from what transpired during Friday’s match.
RMC Sport reported that Mbappé requested a face-to-face meeting with Luis Enrique; both spoke Saturday morning at the campus and had a constructive talk. Nonetheless, the 53-year-old believes that since February 7 vs. Brest, Mbappé is no longer quite the same.

However, a recent report from the aftermath indicated that Mbappé’s entourage reassured the French media outlet that there was no controversy. They emphasized that the player focuses on Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League match.
The timing isn’t perfect as the team gears up for the second leg against Real Sociedad in the Champions League Round of 16. It’s uncertain whether Enrique will trust the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner for this pivotal match.
