Liverpool Was PSG’s Top Rival for Brazilian Starlet In January Window, Report Says

Paris Saint-Germain defender Lucas Beraldo is nearly two months into his tenure with the French giants. On Saturday, Le Parisien reported how the entire transfer went down, which included beating out a Premier League club.

PSG needed to bolster this position due to the extended absences of Presnel Kimpembe and Nuno Mendes and its heavy reliance on Lucas Hernandez early in the season.

Consequently, when manager Luis Enrique sought a defender to instill calmness and technical prowess in matches, Campos suggested three players, including the Brazilian, to meet the criteria.

The French media outlet notes that sporting advisor Luis Campos had long followed Beraldo since the player was 17 years old.

Campos then went to South America to present his arguments to Lucas Beraldo. Especially since three clubs were closely monitoring the 20-year-old Brazilian, including Liverpool. In the end, the defender favored a move to the reigning French champions.

Eventually, PSG would pay São Paulo FC €20 million for Beraldo and then sign him to a contract that runs until 2028.
