Paris Saint-Germain will need to replace the production that Kylian Mbappé brings. Over the last few days, many players have had their names connected to the Parisians.
The Athletic are putting names that PSG should consider to replace the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner. Journalist Jacob Whitehead wrote in the piece that the French giants should go to the Premier League for a replacement.
Whitehead notes that Arsenal’s Gabriel Martinelli would be an ideal replacement for the Frenchman.
“Few players can mimic Mbappe stylistically, but Martinelli’s ability to cut inside from the left while moonlighting as a central striker gives him the versatility to excel in Luis Enrique’s system,” Whitehead wrote. “His ability to showboat, as well, will fit in well commercially — a feature he shares with Brazilian PSG old boys Neymar and Ronaldinho.
“The drawback? Cost. Martinelli signed a new contract until summer 2027 last month, meaning PSG would likely have to part with north of £100 million ($125.6 million) to sign him. At just 22 years old though, three years younger than Mbappe, if PSG want to invest in a long-term replacement who is proven at the top level, he is an enticing option.”
According to Loïc Tanzi from L’Equipe, PSG intends to bring in many new players this summer, with signings expected across all positions.
Moreover, PSG will save about €200 million per year following Mbappé’s exit. The capital club’s leaders plan to reinvest this money in the market to strengthen the team. They are launching a significant recruitment movement, bringing in a plethora of new talent.
As a result, the French giants will be one of the big spenders this upcoming summer transfer window.
