Journalist Highlights Liverpool’s Chance to Upstage Real Madrid for Mbappé Signing

Paris Saint-Germain winger Kylian Mbappé will become a free agent after the 2023-24 season. Furthermore, the 24-year-old can sign a pre-contract with any club beginning in January.

Real Madrid is the prominent club that has its eyes on the Frenchman. However, could the Spanish giants face competition for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner? If there’s another possible destination outside of Los Blancos, it’s the Premier League.

Is Liverpool a realistic destination for Kylian Mbappé?

L’Équipe journalist Loic Tanzi recently spoke with talkSPORT and shared his thoughts on the possibility that Liverpool does enter the race and looks to land the winger as a free agent.

“Liverpool wanted him when he was playing in Monaco so many years ago. I don’t know if you know that story, but when he used to play with Monaco, Jürgen Klopp went to see him in Monaco. They took a plane and just negotiated with him just during the flight around Monaco.

“They negotiated in the air with Mbappe. So yeah, the relationship between him and Liverpool club is made now, so yeah, I think they have a chance to if Madrid decides to let him go and say, okay, we don’t want him anymore; I think they have a chance.

“Real Madrid has stayed firm with their reported stance that they have no intention of dragging this saga past the January window. If the La Liga side decides to finally leave the negotiating table, it opens up the possibility of a club such as Liverpool stepping in.
