The future of Kylian Mbappé remains uncertain, as the Frenchman can become a free agent after this 2023–24 season. Furthermore, there are links to Real Madrid, who believe the player wants out of Paris Saint-Germain.
Nonetheless, the capital club isn’t allowing the player to leave without an effort to keep him. Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Le10Sport) reports that PSG has confidence that they’ll be able to reach an extension with the winger.
According to the Italian media outlet, the Ligue 1 side hopes to find an agreement in the coming weeks and announce this signing before the Christmas holiday.
This extension could, at worst, allow the Parisian club to recover transfer compensation in the event of the star’s departure at the end of the season. Even if Mbappé does exit next summer, recouping a fee is always a better option than losing him as a free agent.
Nonetheless, PSG likely wants to keep Mbappé and make him the focal point of this project. The question is whether the 24-year-old wants to remain or head somewhere else.
Aside from Real Madrid, there are Premier League options, so the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner will have suitors if he explores free agency.
