Real Madrid wants that next superstar player, and the Spanish club is linked to talents such as Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappé. So, which one of the two would the La Liga side pick?
José Manuel Otero, a board member for Real Madrid, was asked by AS which player would fit the squad better. Despite the team needing a No. 9, Otero notes that the Frenchman would be the ideal target over the Manchester City star.
“For the game of Real Madrid, it is better that Mbappé comes rather than Haaland,” Otero told AS (h/t Le10Sport). “Haaland demands that the whole team plays for him so that he scores goals. Against regrouped teams, he sometimes scores a goal. Real Madrid needs to open up the defenses with extremely skillful players.”
Pursuing Mbappé is a much simpler task for Real Madrid. The winger will be a free agent after this 2023–24 season. If the La Liga side were to go after Haaland, they’d have to pay a fee on top of wages and bonuses.
If Real Madrid potentially adds the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner, it could mean that the Spanish club will likely have to move Rodrygo to the bench. After the reports of extending Vinicius Junior, it could be the Brazilian who’s the odd man out since Mbappé doesn’t want to play the striker position.
Can Los Blancos add one of these two players? Only time will tell.
