Kylian Mbappé Behind Ex-PSG, Barcelona Star Lionel Messi in This Impressive Champions League Stat

Paris Saint-Germain secured a convincing 3-1 win over AC Milan on Wednesday at the Parc des Princes. The opening goal scorer for the French giants was Kylian Mbappé, who has found his scoring boots again.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old made UEFA Champions League history with his goal against the Serie A side. With his goal, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner registered his 42nd Champions League goal.

ESPN FC pointed out on Twitter that only Lionel Messi has scored more goals in the Champions League than Mbappé before turning 25 with 51 goals. Even though many wondered what was wrong with the Frenchman, all those concerns were for nothing.

It’s unlikely that Mbappé scores 10 goals in his last three games, as he doesn’t turn 25 until Dec. 20. Nonetheless, he could score a brace or two to make him a close second behind Messi.

Regardless, PSG likely hopes Mbappé’s scoring will catapult them to the knockout stage. A favorable result against Milan would put them in the driver’s seat to control their destiny in the final two matchdays.
