Newcastle United picked up a 2-0 win over Burnley on Saturday, heading into the Matchday 2 UEFA Champions League contest against Paris Saint-Germain. While the Magipes deal with serious injuries, their mentality isn’t affected.
It helps that they’re facing PSG coming off a win, so it’s good for morale. Nonetheless, Wednesday’s match will see St. James’ Park welcome the Champions League for the first since the 2002-03 season.
Andy Sixsmith reveals that he spoke with striker Alexander Isak post-match, who described a very happy dressing room after a week with three wins.
Furthermore, the Sweden international notes that the team – and the city – are now buzzing ahead of PSG and the first Champions League game at St James’ in 20 years.

As for PSG, they’re coming into the contest off a 0-0 draw against Clermont Foot, who are battling relegation. Dropping points against a team they should beat isn’t a momentum builder.
Still, the Ligue 1 giants did lose 3-2 to OGC Nice before picking up an impressive 2-0 over Borussia Dortmund. It will be interesting to see if PSG can work that same magic and get a significant road win.
