Manuel Ugarte Offers Bold Kylian Mbappé Take After PSG’s Win vs. RC Lens

Kylian Mbappé scored a brace in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over RC Lens on Saturday at the Parc des Princes. Furthermore, the 24-year-old has three goals in two matches.

With Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi now in the twilight of their careers and playing outside of Europe, the title of “the best footballer in the world” is up for grabs.

Nonetheless, midfielder Manuel Ugarte gave a clear-cut answer as he believes the Frenchman is the best player in football. After the game, the Uruguayan spoke to reporters, where he gave the bold claim.

“Kylian Mbappé is the best player in the world; he surprises me every day with his qualities,” Ugarte told reporters.

The debate will go between Mbappé and Erling Haaland in the next few years. PSG’s star already has a FIFA World Cup under his belt; meanwhile, Haaland has a UEFA Champions League trophy.

Mbappé can win two major trophies and a gold medal next year. If the Frenchman can secure two or even all three of those honors, he will have a major stake in being called the best player in football.
