Why Are Rumors Circulating? Reporter Shares Theory on PSG Midfielder’s Chelsea, Liverpool Links

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti recently had his name connected to Liverpool. The 30-year-old is a player that has many admirers in European football.

Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol shed light on the rumors linking the 2020 UEFA Euro winner to a move to England. Solhekol states he was told that the two Premier League clubs eyeing Verratti are Chelsea and Liverpool.

However, Solhekol couldn’t confirm the information and revealed his theory of why Verratti’s name is sounding in the Premier League.

“We’ve also been told that two Premier League clubs are interested in signing him,” Solhekol said. “The names we were told were Liverpool and Chelsea.

“We haven’t been able to confirm that. It could just be a case of he’s a player who’s been offered to Liverpool and Chelsea by intermediaries, by agents, by representatives who are trying to make some money from the deal and they know that Chelsea and Liverpool are potentially looking for midfielders this summer.”

Solhekol also stated that Paris Saint-Germain would want £70 million for the veteran. As a result, it seems unlikely that either of those two clubs pay that amount for a midfielder whose prime years are ending.

The other club that’s in the mix is Atlético de Madrid. Manager Diego Simeone admires the Italian; however, the price might be too steep for the Spanish club to pay to secure the player.
