Leonardo Criticizes Mbappé’s Leadership Qualities, Supports Departure from PSG

Former Paris Saint-Germain sporting director, Leonardo, spoke harshly to Kylian Mbappé. Additionally, the Brazilian notes that it’s time for the capital club to say goodbye to the 24-year-old.

Leonardo spoke with L’Equipe and stated that Mbappé, despite his exceptional talent, is not yet a player capable of effectively leading a team.

“With his behavior over the past two years, Mbappé shows that he is not yet a player capable of really guiding a team,” Leonardo told the French media outlet. “He is a great player, not a leader. He is a great scorer, not a creative. It’s hard to build a team around him.”

The France international has worn the captain’s armband for PSG and is now captain of Les Bleus. As a result, Mbappé will be able to prove Leonardo wrong to show he can effectively lead.

Leonardo’s comments also come amid growing speculation linking Mbappé with a potential move to Real Madrid. The former director suggested it might be time for PSG to let the French superstar leave.

“For the good of PSG, I think the time has come for Mbappé to leave, no matter the way,” Leonardo added.

The question of leadership and Mbappé’s growth as a player will be scrutinized as he navigates this critical juncture in his career. Whether PSG decides to retain him or allows him to pursue new challenges elsewhere, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s next steps will shape the trajectory of his footballing journey.
