The Manuel Ugarte sweepstakes is between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea. Both clubs want to beef up their defensive midfield role and they view the 22-year-old as a critical piece.
Foot Mercato provided an update on this file and stated that Ugarte has a contractual agreement with PSG and Chelsea.
However, if the capital club wants to land the Uruguay international, Sporting Lisbon wants the French giants to match the Premier League side’s offer.

Chelsea’s offer for Ugarte is €60 million plus some details, but it’s a proposal that the reigning Ligue 1 champions are unwilling to meet. The French media outlet doesn’t reveal these minor details that would put them ahead of the Blues.
As a result, Chelsea and Sporting want to schedule medical tests next week for Ugarte to seal the deal. If sporting advisor Luis Campos and Co. aren’t willing to budge on their stance, then the London-based club will likely secure the South American.
Meanwhile, PSG will have to scratch Ugarte off their list and look elsewhere to fill the No. 6 role in the midfield.
