Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez Only Argentine Close to Messi In This Impressive Stat

The 2022-23 football season across Europe’s top leagues are over. While being 35 years old, Lionel Messi was one of the best Argentine footballers this season.

ESPN Argentina put out a statistical graphic on Twitter pointing out that the soon-to-be former Paris Saint-Germain star recorded the most assists and goal-plus assists total this season in the top leagues in Europe.

Messi recorded 16 assists in Ligue 1 while scoring 16 goals for a goal-plus assists total of 32. There was only one player in his neighborhood as Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez had a goal-plus assists total of 27.

While many PSG fans might be OK with Messi leaving the capital club, as the Argentine played his last game in the 3-2 loss to Clermont Foot on Saturday at the Parc des Princes, the French giants need to replace his production.

PSG will reportedly improve their forward depth with Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio, as the 27-year-old will arrive as a free agent. Asensio isn’t the only player that the Ligue 1 side, as they’ll likely be in the mix for another forward and striker.

Meanwhile, Messi will evaluate his future with rumors heavily linking the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner to Al-Hilal and Inter Miami.
