Paris Saint-Germain appears heading toward a divorce with Lionel Messi; however, he might not be the only player who exits the capital club this summer as Neymar Jr. might be another name heading toward a departure.
After PSG supporters went to the 31-year-old’s house to protest and ask him to leave this summer, Sky Sports News’ Kaveh Solhekol discussed the gloomy future for the Brazilian, who is recovering from season-ending ankle surgery.
Solhekol believes that Neymar and the French giants are heading toward a divorce.
“I think the bigger picture is that PSG have embarked on a new strategy when it comes to what the club is going to look like,” Solhekol said on Sky Sports News.
“They made it clear they want an end to the ‘bling bling’ culture; they want an end to the galactico era. They’re going to be moving in a different direction and that direction means buying the best young French players, having hungry [and] humble players.
“And I think the writing on the wall, it feels like it’s coming to the end of Neymar’s time in Paris as well. They’ve been willing to sell him in the past, but I think this summer they would be willing to listen to offers for him and I think maybe it’s the right time for him to leave Paris as well.”
L’Equipe reported on Thursday (h/t Paris Fans) that PSG is ready to make a drastic shift regarding Neymar. The French media outlet notes that the Ligue 1 side will accommodate a loan with an option to buy.
Neymar does not tick the boxes of the project desired by the management – a more French, younger and more dedicated team. As a result, the capital club wants to end Neymar’s tenure.
