Scaloni included Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi in the squad list. Messi last featured for Argentina in its 2022 FIFA World Cup-winning run, where he tallied 10 goal contributions over the tournament.
Overall, Messi has tallied 98 goals in his international career with Argentina. With a mere two more goals, he will become the third player ever to record at least 100 goals in international play. Cristiano Ronaldo is the all-time leader in international goals; he has logged 118 goals in 196 total appearances for the Portugal national team.
For now, Messi is slated to feature in PSG’s upcoming four fixtures ahead of the March international break, including its UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg matchup against Bayern Munich.
