Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi made history when he assisted on the game-winning by Kylian Mbappé in the 2-1 victory for PSG over Stade Brestois on Saturday at Stade Francis Le Blé.
Messi recorded his 300th club career assist when the Argentine took a pass to quickly start the counter-attack for PSG. The pass from Messi ended up with Mbappé, who used his speed to bypass the Brest defense and only needed to bear the goalkeeper.

The 24-year-old would score as stoppage time was about to start to eventually lift the capital club to victory and three more points to keep their hold on Ligue 1.
While many will acknowledge the achievement, there is some sourness to it, considering the assist comes right after PSG was eliminated from the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 again.
Messi’s uncertain future, as his contract expires in June, could also create a disconnect when the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner reaches these individual accomplishments.
