Lionel Messi and his family have had a tough week after a shooting at a grocery store owned by his in-laws in Rosario, Argentina. Fourteen shots were fired into the establishment and a threatening note to the 35-year-old was also left behind.
While this incident likely ends any rumors or talk about Messi possibly returning to his boyhood club Newell’s Old Boys, the supporters decided to show their support with a banner before the contest against Barracas Central on Saturday at the Estadio Marcelo Bielsa.
“Leo, you’re the heart of a country,” the banner said.

Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain ends in June and the veteran goal scorer likely extends his stay in the French capital or head to MLS side Inter Miami.
