Lionel Messi Doesn’t ‘Respect’ PSG After Latest Champions League Elimination, Pundit Says

Lionel Messi has been a lightning rod of criticism these last few weeks and after Paris Saint-Germain’s UEFA Champions League Round of 16 elimination on Wednesday by Bayern Munich, it’s only getting louder.

RMC Sport pundit Jérôme Rothen is one of Messi’s loudest critics and the latest remarks that come from the player is that the Argentine doesn’t respect PSG as a club. Rothen added that it’s the French club that allowed him to have a good salary and prepare for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

“I don’t mind it being the national team jersey, a separate thing, but hey, respect the club in the capital a little, which allows you to keep a standing and a salary,” Rothen said recently on RMC Sport (h/t Paris Fans).

“Only PSG could give him that and, of course, PSG fell with both feet in it because they thought Messi was going to make us win. But it does not win us anything at all. Last year against Real, pshit. He was at the Bernabeu and he hid like the others. Everyone fell on Donnarumma but he did nothing more.”

Messi’s contract with the capital club expires in June and after the Champions League elimination, not many will be lining up for the capital club to extend the 2022 World Cup winner.

PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos will need to examine the squad and begin implementing a plan that allows him to mold the squad into a team and not a squad filled with star players whether or not that includes Messi will remain to be seen.

  1. Who is Jérôme Rothen??
I have to tell you something:
PSG don’t deserve Messi the GOAT!!
And, Jérôme, think before say something about Messi

  2. Messi should just do himself a favor and leave PSG before its too late, that team is so disorganized and unwatchable, it seems everyone plays for himself and not for the team. Messi is a team player
