Kingsley Coman Believes ‘Small Details’ Helped Bayern Munich Advance Past PSG

Paris Saint-Germain has gone through yet another UEFA Champions League disappointment after the capital club fell 2-0 (3-0 on aggregate) to Bayern Munich on Wednesday at Allianz Arena.

Former PSG youth product Kingsley Coman scored in the first leg to give the German giants to lead after 90 minutes. The 26-year-old noted that it’s a victory Bayern Munich deserves as the Bundesliga side advances to the quarterfinals.

“It’s complicated; the last time we met them in the quarter-finals, they took us out; it was very close,” Coman told Canal Plus (h/t Paris Fans) postgame. “Today, I think we deserved this victory a bit, but those are the small details; we’re concentrating on ourselves, we’re doing the work as a team. The players who returned did a great job; we are very happy today.”

The French giants did pose a threat in the first half during the second leg. PSG had a couple of scoring chances to get the equalizer but couldn’t find the back of the net. However, Coman stated that the halftime adjustments proved to be the difference maker.

“In the first half, it was very difficult,” Coman continued. “Mathijs saved a good chance. At half-time, we were able to solve the problems, talk together, and we were much more compact; we were much better in the second half.”

As for PSG, the team will again need to do some reflecting as to why these Champions League failures in the Round of 16 continue to be a reoccurrence for the club. Sporting advisor Luis Campos will head to the drawing board to see if he can fix the issues that plague them.
