Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi is in South America with Argentina, as the national team has two friendlies in the country. However, while all Argentines celebrate the 2022 FIFA World Cup triumph, so is CONMEBOL.
The South American football confederation put a statue of Messi in their museum on Monday and was placed next to those of legendary players Pelé and Diego Maradona.

Messi’s statue also includes him holding the World Cup. Furthermore, the PSG star also received replicas of the World Cup and the Finalissima trophy, which Argentina won against Italy, during the ceremony before the Copa Libertadores draw.
“We are living a very special and beautiful moment, getting a lot of love,” Messi said during the tribute. “It was time for a South American team to win the World Cup again.”
