Why Neymar, PSG Squad Reportedly Questioned Luis Campos’ 2022 Summer Transfer Window Moves

Paris Saint-Germain brought in Luis Campos as their sporting advisor last summer. The Portuguese club chief was in charge of building a squad that could win the UEFA Champions League and everything domestically.

However, the capital club has struggled recently, which has led to them crashing out the Coupe de France and losing 1-0 in the first leg to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Round of 16 matchup.

L’Equipe reported (h/t Canal Supporters) on Friday, citing sources, that after the fixture between AS Monaco and PSG, a lively discussion took place between Neymar and Campos over last summer’s transfer window.

The French media outlet notes that the additions of Nordi Mukiele, Vitinha, Renato Sanches, Fabian Ruiz, Carlos Soler and Hugo Ekitike were not to the liking of some locker room leaders who believe that the squad has weakened compared to previous seasons.

Campos’ summer signings are a mixed bag of results. Some players have underperformed, while others need more time due to their age. Additionally, the Portuguese executive did sign Milan Skriniar for the 2023-24 season but failed to bring him over this January window.

If PSG cannot overcome their current hole against Bayern Munich, many will question the transfers Campos made and whether they were the right ones.
