Achraf Hakimi has stepped up in the absence of Kylian Mbappe, who left the clash against Montpellier last Wednesday; then, the 24-year-old appeared on the scoresheet in the 2-1 victory over Toulouse on Saturday.
The Morocco international recorded a strike from outside the box and the right-back’s current form has one pundit ecstatic as to what the future hold for PSG if Hakimi continues to play at this level.
“Achraf Hakimi is certainly PSG’s best player …,” Romain Beddouk said on France Bleu Paris. “He came back very well from the World Cup, in which he had shone with Morocco. He was saved by only returning 30 minutes against Rennes and since then he has been in full swing. It was one of the few dangers of PSG against Rennes last week. He confirmed Wednesday against Montpellier with an assist and a very nice goal which had been refused. And he did even better this Saturday against Toulouse, with a valid goal this time and an assist. It’s a nice strike with the left foot in the skylight.

“He has very good activity on his right flank. He is more and more sought after, less and less snubbed and he continues to be an electric battery on his side. Defensively, he is also in line with his World Cup and he has made quite significant returns in which he can, in which he can play on his speed. He manages to better read the trajectories of the balls behind his back to make the right intervention when necessary.”
A former PSG player also noted that the chemistry between Hakimi and Lionel Messi has improved this 2022-23 football season. If the capital club is without Neymar for their Coupe de France Round of 16 clash against Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday, the Hakimi will need to step up if the French giants hope to advance.
