PSG Defender Achraf Hakimi ‘Under Investigation’ for Alleged Rape

Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi is “under investigation” for alleged rape, according to a report from Le Parisien.

A 24-year-old woman went to the police station in Nogent-sur-Marne on Feb. 26 to present allegations that she had been sexually assaulted by Hakimi on Feb. 25 at the PSG defender’s home in Boulogne-Billancourt.

The alleged victim did not wish to file a legal complaint against Hakimi but preferred to instead “make a statement of rape.” Le Parisien adds that the prosecutor’s office still decided to open up an investigation due to the “seriousness” of the allegations and the “notoriety of the alleged perpetrator.”

The Creteil prosecutor’s office first took up the case, but because the alleged incident took place in Boulogne-Billancourt, it was then handed over to the Nanterre prosecutor’s office.

Hakimi reportedly was in contact with the woman dating back to Jan. 16. The two met on Feb. 25, when the alleged incident was said to have taken place.

Hakimi reportedly did not join PSG for its trip to Marseille for the Ligue 1 away fixture against Olympique de Marseille. The PSG right-back, who missed the club’s last two matches due to a thigh injury, did make the short trip to The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony in Paris, France on Monday — his first public appearance since the Le Parisien report was published.
