Galtier Gives Latest on Kylian Mbappe As PSG Star Wants to Play Bayern Munich Contest

Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe is reportedly doing all he can to be ready for the UEFA Champions League first-leg clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesday at the Parc des Princes.

Mbappe was diagnosed as being out for three weeks due to a left thigh injury he suffered on Feb. 1 against Montpellier. PSG manager Christophe Galtier spoke with reporters on Monday, giving an update on Mbappe’s status.

“He trained collectively; he did the entire session,” Galtier told reporters (h/t Canal Supporters). “I didn’t think he was going to train individually yesterday. His post-training feedback is very positive. We will take stock tomorrow morning of his presence on the match sheet.

“The first questions will be put to Kylian. There will be a discussion with the medical staff. As I speak to you, I don’t know if Kylian will be on the scoresheet. If he is on the scoresheet, he will be there to play, not to scare Bayern Munich.”

After seeing PSG be eliminated from the Coupe de France last week following a loss to Olympique de Marseille and then a loss to AS Monaco on Saturday, the 24-year-old doesn’t want to stay on the sidelines for much longer.

Mbappe wants to play on Tuesday, and PSG will reportedly decide before the contest to see if the France international can play. The Ligue 1 side pulled out wins against Montpellier and Toulouse FC, but last week, they missed their superstar goal scorer.

For PSG’s sake, here’s hoping Mbappe can start and be effective against Bayern Munich.
