France will be looking for a new goalkeeper as the Les Bleus march towards UEFA Euro 2024, with qualifications for the competition beginning this year. Hugo Lloris announced on Monday that he would retire from international football.
Lloris won the 2018 FIFA World Cup and was a runner-up in the 2022 edition. With the Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper saying goodbye to France, Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe reacted on his Instagram story by sharing photos of the two players.
“I’ve decided to stop my international career, with the feeling that I have given everything,” said Lloris told the French publication L’Equipe. “I think it is important to announce this now, two-and-a-half months before the start of Euro qualifying.”
