Messi Contract: Saudi Federation Chief Reveals No Club Has Yet to Make Offer to PSG Star

Many media outlets will discuss the future of Lionel Messi until the 35-year-old signs a contract for the 2023-24 season. The Argentine’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June; afterward, he’ll become a free agent.

Rumors link Messi to an extension with PSG and others are suggesting the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner could be heading to MLS and joining Inter Miami. However, recent reports also suggest Saudia Arabia.

However, that’s not the case. The General Secretary of the Saudi Football Federation, Ibrahim Alkassim, has denied that there are currently talks between a Saudi Arabian team and Messi.

“At the moment, we do not know anything about a possible Lionel Messi arrival, although I do not hide that, as Saudi Federation, we would like to have him one day in the domestic league,” Alkassim told MARCA.

“The idea of the Federation is always to improve our football, and of course, we would like to see Cristiano and Messi in the same league again, but the truth is that we don’t know anything now.”

Messi has not received any proposal from either Saudi Arabia or the MLS despite his contract expiring at the end of the season. Additionally, MARCA remains adamant in its reporting that Messi’s father and agent, Jorge Messi, has received a contract extension offered by PSG.

The decision will be on the veteran to see where he wants to continue his football career.
