The future of Lionel Messi is becoming more apparent as the Argentine’s contract expires in June. However, all reported signs suggest that the veteran goal scorer will extend his stay in the French capital.
TyC Sports’ Gastón Edul reported on Saturday that Messi verbally agreed with Paris Saint-Germain to extend his contract until June 2024. Edul doesn’t give further specifics on the details of the agreement.

Nonetheless, the news goes with what’s been ongoing surrounding the future of Messi, that the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner will remain with PSG.
MLS’ Inter Miami is the other likely destination, but Edul discarded that rumor in his reporting. Edul, much like Spanish journalist Guillem Balague said this week, also scrapped the idea of Messi heading to Saudi Arabia.
After showing he can still compete at the highest level in Qatar, Messi wants to stay in Europe and possibly add another career highlight in helping PSG win their first UEFA Champions League.
If the reports are accurate, it’s only a matter of time before Messi and PSG announce an extension.
