Ligue 1: What Lionel Messi Said Upon Returning to PSG After Winning 2022 World Cup

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi returned to training with the capital club after the 35-year-old won the 2022 FIFA World Cup and enjoyed his vacations during the holiday season.

However, the veteran forward is now back to help the French giants the rest of the 2022-23 football season, but before he does, the squad did congratulate Messi for winning the tournament last month.

Additionally, the Argentine shared his first remarks since his return to the reigning Ligue 1 with the club website, in which he thanked the squad for their gesture.

“I want to thank everyone for the welcome I received, from all the staff, my teammates and the staff,” Messi said. “I want to thank everyone for the welcome I received, from all the staff, my teammates and the staff.

“I will prepare myself physically, train well, find the rhythm to be ready when the staff decides that I can play.”

Messi now focuses on winning the UEFA Champions League with PSG, which would be the club’s first in its history. Furthermore, it would help solidify the goal scorer’s bid to win his ninth Ballon d’Or, as he’s currently the favorite to win the award.

Additionally, Messi appears to be on the verge of extending his contract with Les Parisiens, as he will at least remain for another season after arriving in 2021.
