Ligue 1: Hugo Ekitike Explains What It’s Like Playing Alongside Messi, Mbappe, & Neymar

Paris Saint-Germain sporting advisor Luis Campos is banking on Hugo Ekitike will become the next great French forward. However, it’s been an adjustment period for the 20-year-old.

Ekitike went from being the go-to player at Stade de Reims to being a sporadic starter and playing alongside Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar Jr.

In an interview with PSG TV (h/t Paris Fans), Ekitike spoke about sharing the pitch with these players as he learns their tendencies and forms chemistry when he’s out playing with them.

“That’s it; I know them now,” Ekitike said. “I can praise them, but we already know the players they are. I think it’s mainly a great opportunity for me because it allows me to learn even if I don’t necessarily realize it in training and it makes me a more ready player and you will soon see that on field.”

The forward’s last three games are presenting some encouraging signs as he has two goals, which definitely helps his confidence and proves to himself that PSG, where the expectations are high, is a club where he can perform and meet the demands.

PSG will make the transfer of Ekitike permanent this summer when the reigning Ligue 1 champions pay a reported €28.5 million and a further €6.5 million in bonuses, as the striker is currently on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
