Report: France’s Projected Starting 11 for the World Cup Final – What Will Be the Game Plan for Messi?

The France national team will have a grand opportunity to make history on Sunday, as it will look to take home its third FIFA World Cup trophy when it meets Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi and Argentina.

One of the storylines heading into this matchup has centered on just how France will defend Messi. According to RMC Sport, France national team manager Didier Deschamps could call on a familiar foe of Messi’s to help contain the Argentine forward in the final of the sport’s biggest tournament.

Lloris; Kounde, Varane, Upamecano, T. Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Dembele, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud

Multiple France players fell ill over the past week, so it is up in the air as to just which talents will end up making the squad list for the match. At the least for Deschamps, he has plenty of options at the center-back position, and he could call on Raphael Varane to help slow down Messi. Varane and Messi have plenty of history with each other from their duels in El Clasico.

All eyes sure will also be on Kylian Mbappe, who comes into the match leading Les Bleus with seven goal contributions at the tournament.
