Report: Argentina’s Projected Starting 11 vs. Australia – Manchester City Star to Tag Along With Messi in the Attack?

Paris Saint-Germain forward Lionel Messi is set to feature in the FIFA World Cup knockout stage for the fifth time in his career, as the Argentina national team will meet Australia in the round of 16 on Saturday.

The PSG forward is just coming off of a keen performance in Argentina’s 2-0 win over Poland, where he created five goal-scoring chances for teammates in the contest.

As noted by TyC Sports, Messi may go on to once again tag along with Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez in the attack for Argentina in a crucial World Cup matchup.

Emiliano Martinez; Molina, Romero, Otamendi, Acuna; De Paul, Fernandez, Mac Allister; Messi, Alvarez, Gomez

Argentina national team manager Lionel Scaloni called on Alvarez to slot in the starting left wing role against Poland — and the decision paid off quite well for the reigning Copa America champions. Alvarez scored a goal in the match, and he formed quality chemistry with Messi on the pitch. Argentina sure needs more of the same from Alvarez and Messi against Australia.

Overall, the PSG star has recorded three goal contributions to go along with a 3.0 key passes per match average in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
