PSG Manager Galtier Breaks Silence on Emiliano Martinez’s Taunting of Mbappe After the World Cup Final

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has made a few enemies since the 2022 FIFA World Cup Final.

For one, Martinez has regularly been taunting multiple France national team players, including Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe. From calling for a moment of “silence” for the forward after the World Cup final to holding a toy doll that had a picture of the France star on it during last week’s parade, Martinez continues to simply mock the PSG talent at every chance he gets.

For PSG manager Christophe Galtier, he is not placing much attention on Martinez, and overall, he simply does not want the actions of the Aston Villa goalkeeper to be in the “mix” with Messi.

“I’m not going to comment on how they celebrate,” Galtier said during a press conference on Tuesday. “What happened in the celebrations of the Argentinians is theirs. I don’t have to deal with the case of their goalkeeper. … It’s not Leo who has been badmouthing or anything. You have to leave him out of it. … There’s no reason to mix it up.

“The behavior of the goalkeeper remains his, I don’t have to comment on it.”

Messi did stand right alongside Martinez when the goalkeeper showed off the toy doll during Argentina’s World Cup parade last week. However, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner has not once mocked Mbappe since the World Cup final.

PSG will return to action on Wednesday with a Ligue 1 home fixture against Strasbourg.
