La Liga: Ex-Real Madrid President Laughs At Rumor of Spanish Giant Paying €1B for Mbappe

A recent report out of Italy noted that Real Madrid would put forth an incredible financial package that could tempt Paris Saint-Germain to let Kylian Mbappe exit.

The information states that the La Liga side would put together a financial package worth €1 billion – around £877 million – over four years would do it despite missing out on Mbappe this summer; it appears the Spanish club still has their eyes on the 24-year-old.

Ex-Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon scoffed at the reported price tag Los Blancos would be willing to pay. Furthermore, he stated that no player is worth a €1 billion price tag.

“I think it’s a joke!” Calderon told TalkSPORT. “Many newspapers here said in the summer that Kylian Mbappe was coming to Real Madrid, they even said when – the day, the time, the place, the people who will be with him – so you know what happens sometimes with newspapers, they have to cover a lot of pages and a lot of rumors to keep the attention of the readers.

“But I think it’s a joke to say that a club could pay €1 billion for one player. Mainly because the player still belongs to a club and he said in the summer that he didn’t want to leave. So if you ask me about this rumor, I can’t believe it, really.”

Mbappe signed a contract extension that keeps him at Paris Saint-Germain until 2025 after he rejected interest from Real Madrid to stay in his hometown.

Furthermore, it would be odd to see him leave now since he wants to deliver the French giants their first UEFA Champions League and also wants to be the ambassador for France during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.
