Paris Saint-Germain added Hugo Ekitike to revamp their striker position, but it appears as though sporting advisor Luis Campos still wants to improve that role on the team, which explains the Joao Felix rumors.
Felix had one goal and two assists for Portugal during the 2022 FIFA World Cup and rumors of the 23-year-old goal scorer wanting out of Atletico Madrid have only grown louder with the January transfer window opening in a few days.
Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone says no one at the club is essential but insists Joao Felix is a “very important player” amid links to PSG and Manchester United.
“No one is essential, no one,” Simeone told reporters Wednesday. “Things will be the way they have to be. He is a very important player, who had a good World Cup.
Reports out of Spain suggest that Los Colchoneros likely won’t recoup the €126 million in the summer of 2019 as they’re looking for €100 million to have at least not their initial investment be a total loss.
Through four seasons with the Spanish club, Felix has made 129 appearances, scoring 33 goals and 18 assists. These numbers are disappointing but can also be attributed to the style Simeone plays and why the Portugal international wants out.
