Kylian Mbappe shocked many on Wednesday when he made an early return to PSG’s Camp des Loges training center. Mbappe was just three days removed from featuring in the France national team’s 2022 FIFA World Cup Final loss to Argentina, where he scored a hat-trick.

PSG took part in a club friendly match on Wednesday, as it defeated Quevilly-Rouen Metropole by a 3-1 final score.

Mbappe did not play in the contest, but nonetheless, PSG manager Christophe Galtier was much pleased to see the French forward back with the team.

“I’m very happy to see Kylian, he had a fantastic World Cup,” Galtier told PSG TV.

“It’s also a strong signal for everyone that a player who was disappointed not to win the biggest trophy even though he was top scorer in the competition, came back quickly with the squad and ready for competition.

“Of course, we’re very happy he’s back.”

PSG will return to official action next week with a Ligue 1 home fixture against Strasbourg.
