Paris Saint-Germain’s Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe were a cut above all the players at the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The two were motivated by several reasons to perform at the tournament in Qatar.
Messi wanted to win the World Cup in what was his final appearance and Mbappe eyed winning his second trophy by the age of 24. Their play reflected the mindset as Squawka noted on Twitter that the two PSG stars had the Most Goals + Assists with 10.
Then there’s a massive gap between them and third place as Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes and Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane were next on the list, tied for third with five.

Furthermore, Messi and Mbappe exchanged blows in the World Cup Final between Argentina and France as the 35-year-old recorded a brace for the South American nation.
Meanwhile, Mbappe recorded a hat-trick for Les Bleus, but it wasn’t enough as the French team fell in penalty kicks (4-2).
