Paris Saint-Germain will be without Lionel Messi for their matchup against FC Lorient on Sunday at the Stade du Moustoir.
Messi is dealing with inflammation in his Achilles tendon and not wanting to risk further injury, the 35-year-old will sit out this matchup, but manager Christophe Galtier expects him to return against Auxerre.
Nonetheless, with the veteran forward out, it presents an opportunity for another player to see an increase in minutes in the match against Lorient. According to RMC Sport’s Fabrice Hawkins, Hugo Ekitike will get the call.
Ekitike is one player sporting advisor Luis Campos is high on and at 20 years old, has plenty of potential to be one of the best French goal scorers. The former Stade de Reims player will be able to line up with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar Jr.
The young striker has seen minutes at PSG but has only started once, so he’ll hope to make a better impression to earn more playing time in the starting 11 with fixtures set to be bunched together.
