Ex-Liverpool Man Believes PSG Star Will Win Golden Boot at 2022 World Cup

Kylian Mbappe is reminding the football world just how great of a player he is as the 23-year-old is carrying the France national team’s offense on his back.

After two group-stage fixtures at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Paris Saint-Germain star has three goals, putting himself in the race to win the tournament’s golden boot award.

Former Liverpool and England national team striker Daniel Sturridge is singing the praises and believes that the France international will be the top goal scorer at the competition once it’s all said and done.

“I think Mbappe will win the Golden Boot. I just think he’s a special player,” Sturridge told Sky Sports. “Just his abilities, the runs he makes, he’s always shooting as well which is important.

“People probably don’t look at that stat much but the more shots you take the more goals you score. And I think he gets himself in position to score goals, he creates his own goals as well.”

Mbappe has one more group-stage match against Tunisia on Monday. Still, with Les Bleus already in the knockout stages, perhaps manager Didier Deschamps will rest the forward and not risk any injury.

Nonetheless, should he play, the PSG star has the opportunity to increase his goal tally and can also do so against their Round of 16 opponent that has yet to be determined but will come out of Group C.

Regardless, the more profound run France goes on, the likelier it means Mbappe will win the golden boot.
