The future of Lionel Messi is at the forefront of various football media outlets despite the 35-year-old reportedly wanting to wait until after the 2022 FIFA World Cup as he wants to concentrate on the tournament with Argentina.
Although Messi’s future is one of the great unknowns to be resolved in the coming months, it appears as though the Argentine will be playing in either three clubs next season: FC Barcelona, Inter Miami, and Paris Saint-Germain.
Regarding Barcelona, former midfielder Andrés Iniesta does not see Messi return to the Camp Nou during an interview with AS (h/t Sport).
“I find it difficult for Messi to return to Barça,” Iniesta said. “But I am not Leo or Laporta and I cannot predict what may happen in the future; more than liking me, he has to like it and see if he could take the chance.”
In a recent report, The Athletic stated that Inter Miami is gaining confidence in their pursuit of Messi, whose deal expires in June 2023. Furthermore, the information revealed that the most advanced of those options is understood to be Major League Soccer club.
PSG wants to keep Messi since the veteran forward has once again been performing at a high level. But, in the end, Messi will be deciding whether he wants to continue in Europe past this season.
Playing so well,he is the best and it would disappoint me if he went to MLS so soon!
