Why Brazilian Football Legend Says Mbappe Reminds Him of Himself

Kylian Mbappe is one of the bright young players in football and is expected to be challenging for the Ballon d’Or for years to come.

The 23-year-old Paris Saint-Germain star is also having a legendary footballer see himself out on the pitch. In a recent interview with the Italian publication Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Canal Supporters), Ronaldo Nazário discussed how Mbappe is a player that reminds him of himself.

Ronaldo stated that the French goal scorer is the closest current player who shares his characteristics.

“Kylian Mbappe? Yes, it is the one closest to me,” Ronaldo said. “He is a very good finisher. He eliminates goalkeepers well, which today is much less frequent than before.”

Despite reportedly not wanting to play the striker, Mbappe is a clinical goal scorer, especially on the receiving end of passes from Lionel Messi. On Friday, the France international scored a brace, with Messi providing both assists on the goals.

The chemistry that the forward is developing with Messi might allow him to score even more goals should the Argentine stay past this 2022-23 football season, as his contract expires in June 2023.
