Paris Saint-Germain is seeing their central defense depth be tested early this 2022-23 football season due to injuries and suspensions. The winter transfer window is right around the corner, and Real Madrid’s Rafa Marín is a prime target.
Spanish publication Marca reported on Friday that sporting advisor Luis Campos has Inter Milan center defender Milan Škriniar atop the transfer wish list. Nonetheless, Marín is a younger option that the Portuguese club chief is eyeing.
The center-back, a pillar of the Real Madrid Castilla backline, is under contract until 2024 and has a €30 million release clause.
Additionally, with the first team having a clog of defenders at center-back on Real Madrid, Marín could entertain the interest. Marca does state that the player’s entourage has always prioritized Real Madrid but feels flattered and tempted by PSG.
With Sergio Ramos’ contract expiring in June 2023 and Danilo Pereira playing out of position, PSG could use more than one center-back this January window to improve their depth if Campos does indeed pursue the Spanish defender.
