Galtier Discusses the Importance of Getting the Best Out of PSG’s Messi, Neymar and Mbappe Trio

Paris Saint-Germain manager Christophe Galtier has not been one to shy away from making notable tactical changes this season. Galtier began his managerial run at PSG by rolling with a three-at-the-back system and over the side’s last two fixtures, he opted to have his team play under a four-at-the-back setup.

Regardless of the formation at hand, Galtier realizes that it is of high importance to get the best out of the team’s superstar attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe.

“In terms of the different systems that we were faced with, I said to myself that it was the time to do something different,” Galtier said during a pre-match press conference on Monday ahead of PSG’s UEFA Champions League home contest against Maccabi Haifa.

“But it’s true that there is a thought process around the best way to set up our trio. We have three world-class players. They need to perform, and therefore need to be happy. And to be happy, they need to be in their best position.”

PSG’s star attacking trio has started a match together just once in the last four fixtures, which came in the 1-0 home win over Olympique de Marseille in Ligue 1 play, where Neymar scored the game’s lone goal. The three star forwards are slated to start together in PSG’s upcoming Champions League home clash with Maccabi Haifa.
