Former World Cup Winner Analyzes the One Major Issue That Could Hold PSG Back in the Champions League

After watching Paris Saint-Germain allow three goals to Troyes on Ligue 1 matchday 13, former World Cup winner Bixente Lizarazu sees that there is still one lingering issue for the Ligue 1 powerhouse on the defensive side of the ball.

Lizarazu recently took some time to analyze PSG’s recent performances during an appearance on Telefoot, and for the former French full-back, he believes that the reigning Ligue 1 champions have a mentality issue when defending.

“The problem is the mentality of the team in reality,” Lizarazu said. “To defend, it is a mentality, a discipline and they do not have it. They get blown up on every transition when they lose the ball. They lack concentration on set pieces.

“We saw that in the Champions League or even here against Troyes.”

Troyes was able to orchestrate multiple promising attacking sequences during its recent league fixture against PSG. Overall, Troyes tallied 16 total shots in the contest, including two from counter-attack sequences.

PSG sure will look to put together a keen defensive showing in its upcoming UEFA Champions League away group stage fixture against Juventus.
