Paris Saint-Germain was victorious on Ligue 1 matchday eight, although it did not orchestrate a dominant performance in the 1-0 win over Olympique Lyonnais. An early goal from Lionel Messi was all that PSG ended up needing to hold off Lyon and take home all three points from the matchup.
From Vitinha’s standpoint, he was far from satisfied with PSG’s overall performance in the fixture. For one, he believes that PSG needed to do more to take firm “control” of the game, which he explained further to Prime Video Sport France after the contest.
“We need to control the game more, especially in the second half,” Vitinha said. “We had possession, but not enough chances for my taste. We need to do more. It’s not enough to be a team that just likes to have possession. It’s still a good game. We needed to win, and we did.”
In the second half of the fixture, PSG recorded six total shots, with four of them coming on target. Still, the current Ligue 1 leaders failed to find the back of the net for the second time against Lyon, as it scored a mere one goal for the second consecutive league match.
The September international break has arrived, as PSG will return to action on Oct. 1 for a league home match against OGC Nice.
