Verratti Gets a Crucial Injury Update From PSG Manager Galtier

There is now a notable injury concern regarding Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti.

The Italian midfielder was subbed off during the second half of PSG’s Ligue 1 away fixture against Olympique Lyonnais due to an apparent calf injury.

Verratti ended up finishing with 88 passes completed and three ground duels won against Lyon before PSG manager Christophe Galtier decided to sub him off for Nordi Mukiele.

After PSG’s 1-0 win over Lyon, Galtier provided an update (via L’Equipe) on Verratti’s ailment, where he confirmed that the midfield talent is indeed dealing with a calf injury.

“He’s hit in the calf,” Galtier said during his post-match press conference. “It is a blow. We can be worried because when Marco can not continue, what he is injured. He will have tests tomorrow (Monday). He was to join directly his selection but he will go back to Paris to evaluate his injury. It is a blow to the calf at first sight.”

Verratti was called up by Italy manager Roberto Mancini for the Azzurri’s upcoming UEFA Nations League group stage fixtures over the September international break. For now, it will be noteworthy to see whether Verratti ends up featuring in any minutes of Italy’s clash with England this Friday.
